Before NAQC, Michelle spent over 15 years working across sectors in health promotion to develop novel partnerships and strategies that accelerate population health progress, reduce disparities, and help programs amplify and sustain positive impact. Most recently, she served eight years as the Tobacco Cessation Initiatives Manager at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, guiding federal and state grants and actions focused on driving tobacco treatment interventions' reach, equitable practices, and sustainability. During her tenure, she spearheaded policy, systems change, and intervention efforts that elevated Colorado as a national leader in treatment access and reduced the disparities in quit success rates among people with lower incomes by 50%. Michelle is a subject matter expert in commercial tobacco cessation, motivational interviewing, and team-based models of care and a nationally trusted advisor to federal, state, and local governments, nonprofits, and private entities for QuitLine strategy, health systems change, public-private partnerships, and chronic disease consultation.
