Susan Cotten, BSDH, RDH, OMT, is a passionate, speaker, consultant, author, and subject matter expert on HPV, oral and oropharyngeal cancer, and screening. She is founder of Oral Cancer Consulting. Her mission and determination to save lives through early detection, and her zest to educate and empower dental professionals and teams to do the same is palpable in her courses. Susan’s unique oral cancer office system and team approach to early detection, the “Cotten Method”, evolved from her years of work in the area of oral cancer.
Having worked as a clinical dental hygienist in private practice and public health as an Integrative dental hygienist, Susan is a Regional Coordinator and RDH Advisory Board member for The Oral Cancer Foundation. In 2018 she was selected as recipient of the Sunstar/RDH Award of Distinction and Colorado Dental Hygiene Association Outstanding Contribution Award.
Susan serves as a dental trainer for Alliance for HPVFree Colorado. She is a board member and oral cancer screening coordinator for Colorado Mission of Mercy, volunteers with the Denver Homeless Head and Neck Cancer Screening and Care Group and founded M.A.D. for Healthy Smiles as part of the Donny Osmond Make a Difference program. She has organized countless free screening and awareness events and completed course work in Myofunctional Therapy at the Coulson Institute.
