Matt Merfeld DDS, MAGD

Dr. Matt Merfeld, DDS, MAGD, is a general dentist and forensic odontologist based in Rochester, Minnesota. He practices at Rochester Dental Clinic and serves as a forensic odontologist for the Southern Minnesota Medical Examiner’s Office. He previously consulted with the Knox County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Dr. Merfeld earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree and a Master of Science in Dentistry from the University of Minnesota. He completed a Fellowship in Forensic Odontology at Lincoln Memorial University, with advanced training in dental identification, age estimation and patterned injury analysis. He is an active member of the American Society of Forensic Odontology and the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and has completed multiple ABFO workshops in patterned injury analysis and dental age assessment. His professional focus includes the responsible integration of digital imaging and overlay techniques in forensic dental analysis.
