Laura Fulginiti PhD

Laura Fulginiti, Ph.D., is a board-certified forensic anthropologist with 35 years of service. She recently transitioned to the Clark County, Nevada, Coroner/Medical Examiner Office after serving Maricopa County for more than three decades. Dr. Fulginiti served as president of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and has lectured nationally and internationally. Her publications include an edited volume on the interaction between forensic anthropology and the U.S. judicial system, as well as multiple applied research projects stemming from her forensic casework. She has participated in multiple mass fatality events, including the response to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Her presentation will focus on the role of the forensic anthropologist in the medicolegal system, drawing on her years of experience in the field. She is married to Superior Court Judge Daniel G. Martin, and they have one son, an attorney serving in the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C.
