Joe Adserias-Garriga D.D.S., PhD., D-ABFO
Dr. Adserias-Garriga is a forensic anthropologist and forensic odontologist from Spain. She previously served as an external advisor to the Catalonian Police and was awarded a Police Decoration for her contributions to forensic anthropology and odontology casework. She has worked on identification efforts at the Forensic Anthropology Center at Texas State University, including cases involving remains recovered near the U.S.–Mexico border.
Her research collaborations include work with international organizations such as the Smithsonian Institution and Europol. She contributes to advancing standards in forensic science as a member of the American Dental Association Standards Committee and the OSAC Forensic Odontology Subcommittee.
Dr. Adserias-Garriga is a Diplomate of the American Board of Forensic Odontology (D-ABFO) and served as President of the American Society of Forensic Odontology (ASFO) in 2022. She is also a Certified Forensic Anthropologist through the Latin American Association of Forensic Anthropology (ALAF). Her professional service includes participation in INTERPOL’s Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) Odontology and Pathology-Anthropology Sub-Working Groups, as well as consulting for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).
She is currently Associate Professor and Director of the MS in Forensic and Biological Anthropology at Mercyhurst University, where she teaches at the undergraduate and graduate levels, conducts research, and performs forensic casework.
