Jennifer L Thompson D.D.S., F.A.C.D., F.I.C.D., F.P.F.A.
Dr. Jennifer Thompson is a practicing general dentist with leadership roles at the national and state levels. She currently serves as Chair of the American Dental Association Council on Dental Practice and Chair of the New Mexico Board of Dental Health Care, roles that support her broader involvement in dental policy, standards, regulation, and assessment. She participates on the CRDTS Steering Committee, the ADEX Council on Dental Examinations, and the ADEX Dental Examination Subcommittee and is an enrolled examiner for both CRDTS and ADEX. She is also a member of the ADA Standards Program Oversight Committee and participates in multiple dental informatics working groups.
Dr. Thompson previously served as President of the New Mexico Dental Association and the Northwest District Dental Society and currently contributes through service as a member of the New Mexico Overdose Prevention and Pain Management Advisory Council and the National Council of Dental Health Programs. She acts as Treasurer of the New Mexico Dental Foundation and is a frequent Mission of Mercy organizer and Donated Dental Services participant.
A native of Farmington, New Mexico, Dr. Thompson earned her undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering from Duke University and her DDS from the UNC School of Dentistry. After graduating in 2008, she returned to New Mexico to join her mother’s dental practice. She is an Adjunct Faculty member at San Juan College Dental Hygiene Program, where she teaches in a nursing home clinical setting. Her clinical practice and teaching activities complement her work in dental policy and professional service.
