Ian Hedges
Director of Medicaid and Medicare Program Policy, American Dental Association
Ian Hedges is the Director of Medicaid and Medicare Program Policy for the American Dental Association. In this role, Ian works on advocacy and education on reimbursement, coverage, and access to public programs on behalf of the Association. Outside of Medicaid/Medicare, Ian's role also focuses on marketplace exchanges and oral health quality.
Before the American Dental Association, Ian was the CEO of Wisconsin's largest free and charitable clinic, HealthNet of Rock County. During his tenure, HealthNet of Rock County expanded its dental clinic, began school-based sealant programs in their community, and started services specifically for incarcerated individuals and community members with developmental disabilities. Ian was also an advocate for free and charitable clinics in Wisconsin and often worked with lawmakers to expand oral health funding at the state-level. Along with these efforts, Ian was appointed by Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers to serve on his inaugural Taskforce for Reducing Prescription Drug Prices in 2019.
In 2023, Ian was awarded the Wisconsin Dental Association's Pyramid of Pride Award for his advocacy for underserved individuals and their oral health. Ian received his bachelor’s degree from Beloit College and his master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.
