Dr. Farmer’s experience includes serving as both a dental practitioner and a dental administrator for over thirty years, ensuring excellence in patient care and organizational leadership. She has held several faculty and administrative appointments throughout her career and is currently serving as dean of the School of Dentistry at Meharry Medical College for the past eleven (11) years. Dr. Farmer is also a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army Reserve with 21 years of service. She has practiced for over thirty years as a general dentist, providing comprehensive care to patients of all ages, with a focus on underserved communities and vulnerable populations.
A native of Indianola, MS, Dr. Farmer is a 1986 graduate of Mississippi Valley State University. She has also received the following degrees and certifications: Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree, 1990, and Master of Science in Public Health degree (M.S.P.H.), 1994, from Meharry Medical College; Tennessee State University Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA), 2019; the Institute of Educational Management Program Certificate from Harvard University, 2017; and Boston University's Public Health Residency Certificate, 2014. She is a fellow of the American College of Dentists, the International College of Dentists, the Pierre Fauchard Academy.
